Rev. J. Christopher Icenogle, Senior Pastor

Chris has served as the Pastor of Olathe Evangelical Covenant Church (OECC) since 2000. An ordained Covenant pastor, Chris has been serving Covenant churches since 1978, including Northwest Covenant Church in Mt. Prospect, IL; First Covenant Church in St. Paul, MN; Faith Covenant Church in Farmington Hills, MI; and Bethany Covenant Church in Stillwater, MN. Chris’ passion is teaching the Word of God in a manner relevant to the questions and concerns of 21st century people. This is complimented by a strong desire to challenge the local church to fully embrace and implement ministries of Christian compassion and justice.

In addition to pastoral ministry, Chris’ other ministry passion is Law Enforcement Chaplaincy. Chris serves as the Staff Chaplain of the Johnson County Kansas Sheriff’s Office, one of the largest law enforcement agencies in the state of Kansas. He is the first person to be appointed Staff Chaplain in the 150 year history of the Department.

When free time presents itself, Chris loves to fish, particularly in the waters of Minnesota and northern Ontario. He further enjoys reading and riding his mountain bike along the KATY trail of central Missouri.

Chris and his wife, Barb, have four grown children and are the proud grandparents of two wonderful grandchildren, Owen and Grace.

Bryson Rumple, Youth Pastor

Bryson is OECC’s most recent addition to staff ministry, arriving in September of 2007.

Bryson is a 2004 graduate of Johnson County Community College’s Graphic Design Program and a 2006 graduate of Covenant Bible College, Windsor, Colorado, where he completed the school’s program in a Biblical Studies. During his time at CBC, Bryson states that he learned much about what it means to be “a man after God’s own heart” and discovered “what he desired youth ministry to be about.”

Bryson just completed one year as a Youth Ministry Intern and is sensing God’s call to a career of Christian service through the church.

Bryson’s pastimes include listening to music, playing favorite video games, roller hockey, softball, watching movies and hanging out with friends. He is always interested in ways to employ his graphic design and writing skills.

As his ministry goal, Bryson says it is “to lead, teach and show young people what it means to be a Christian, not only by what we say, but by what we do.” Welcome, Bryson!
